Agiolax - product packaging

Agiobulk® normalises bowel movement in people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diarrhoea, diverticulosis and constipation.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder that affects the large intestine (gut) and changes how the gut works. 1, 2 IBS is a functional gastrointestinal disorder characterised by stomach pain and discomfort. It is also associated with changes in bowel habits which includes diarrhoea or constipation, and sometimes alternating bouts of the these. 1, 2

Constipation is experienced as persistently difficult, infrequent or incomplete passing of stools. 3 It affects up to 27 % of adults, with women being 2 to 3 times more likely to have constipation than men. 3, 4

More than 35 % of women experience constipation at some point during their pregnancy. 5  This may be due to the hormone progesterone that causes decreased muscle tone and slows the movement of the digestive system. A change in diet and decreased physical activity can also cause constipation. 6

Constipation is also common side effect of several medications such as pain medication, loop diuretics, iron supplements and calcium channel blockers. 3

How does Agiobulk® help you?

Agiobulk® normalises and regulates bowel movement for a longer period of time compared to stool softeners. 7

The two active ingredients, plantago ovata and ispaghula husk, work together to: 8

  • Draw water into the faeces making them softer and easier to pass
  • Stimulate the constriction and relaxation of the gut wall
  • Increase the frequency of passing stools

Agiolax - tinnevelly senna flower

Agiobulk® consists of specifically designed coated granules 9

  • The pH coating ensures that the two ingredients in the medication are absorbed in the colon so they work where they need to. 9
  • It is stimulant free with fewer side effects such as diarrhoea and abdominal cramping. 10, 11
